Angelina Jolie, daughter celebrate admission into Spelman College

Dance has long been a tradition for parents to mark their kids’ college acceptance. Not to be outdone, Angelina Jolie.

Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt, 17, will be entering Spelman College in downtown Atlanta this fall, the Academy Award–winning actress and mother officially announced on Instagram on Sunday.

Zahara can be seen in a photo that Jolie shared with her classmates at what appears to be a Spelman function.

“Zahara with her sisters from Spelman! Thank you to everyone who is a new student this year, Jolie stated on her Instagram post. A family member joining Spelman as a new girl is an honour and a very unique place. Spelman is an HBCU, along with its sisters and college.

The viral shoutout honouring one of Spelman‘s newest freshmen and his delighted mother has already received close to a quarter million likes.

Later, a video from the well-known HBCU website Watch the Yard surfaced on TikTok showing Jolie dancing to Cameo’s “Candy” with her Spelman parents before receiving a high five from one of them.

The speaker on the more than 25,000-like post proclaimed, “Angelina Jolie learning the Electric Slide with Spelman and Morehouse graduates in Los Angeles.”

One of the three children adopted by Jolie and her ex-husband, Oscar winner Brad Pitt, is Zahara. The other two adopted guys, who also have three biological children, are from Cambodia and Vietnam and go to college in South Korea. Jolie has frequently stated that she wants all of her children to be aware of their own cultures.

This fall at Spelman, there won’t only be Zahara and her freshman classmates.
