Manchester United vs. Rayo Vallecano ends in a draw

Manchester United’s pre-season campaign came to an end with a 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford as Cristiano Ronaldo was unable to score to celebrate his return to action.

This summer, there has been a lot of discussion surrounding Ronaldo’s future at United.

To pursue his dream of playing in the Champions League, the 37-year-old is eager to leave the club.

Additionally, he was permitted to skip United’s preseason trips to Australia and Thailand due to personal obligations.

As Ronaldo led the outfield players out for their warm-up prior to kickoff, fans on both sides of the stadium applauded him, demonstrating that there is no lingering animosity despite the summertime rumours.

During his 45-minute stint against the La Liga team, the Portuguese had one clear chance but drove over after latching onto Donny van de Beek’s lay-off.

It seems unlikely that Ronaldo would start against Graham Potter’s team despite the fact that he seems assured to still be a United player when his side opens their Premier League season against Brighton on August 7.

The new signings in a game organised by the new manager Erik ten Hag for the players who weren’t heavily involved in Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in Oslo, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez each played for an hour.
